Beginners Colour Exploration
with The Glass Hub Team
Explore Hot Glass Colour
On this one day course you can explore a few of the more exciting colour techniques seen in glass. You will apply colour in a variety of methods, including: pulling canes to draw and use in rib mould, designing 'roll up' pictures on the marver with stencils and powders, colour bits, trails and "combing". Suitable for complete beginners.
The Glass Hub hot glass team includes:
KT uses hot glass as her chosen artistic material and is passionate about the process as well as the product, using traditional techniques and merging them into contemporary styling - producing unique and graphic imagery. Her creations investigate the fluidity and possibilities of glass in its liquid form. KT has travelled and worked in many glass factories and studios throughout Europe, including Philip Baldwin and Monica Guggisberg, Lino Tagliapietra and Dale Chihuly. She was an original founder of the Liquid Glass Centre, but has more recently worked with glassblower Sonja Klingler. KT is a co-director of Minimelt Glass, producing small mobile glass blowing furnaces, and co-director of The Glass Hub.

Sonja is a glass artist/maker with over twenty years of hot glass experience. She graduated from UCA Farnham with a BA in 3D Design in Glass in 1993, and since then, through diligent application in the glass bench, has become one of the most experienced female glass blowers in the country. She runs her own studio in Frome, Somerset where she makes sculptural work using blown/hot glass, often introducing other materials such as stone, metal or wood. As well as making her own studio glass pieces, she has worked with a great number of artists and designers to help them achieve their artworks and ideas, including Neil Wilkin, Menno Jonker, Rachel Woodman, Catherine Coleman, Johannes Von Stumm and many more.

TUTOR PROFILE - Suzy Hannabuss

Suzy Hannabuss was born and raised in the beautiful surroundings of Connecticut, USA.  Suzy spent most of her college years and her 20’s living in the city of Boston, Massachusetts, where she worked in the Aviation industry working with Private Jets. This work put Suzy in the fortunate position to travel to such places as Peru, Russia and South Africa – places which have often proven the inspiration for her work.

From a young age, Suzy, like most girls, was fascinated with jewellery.  She often thought of taking classes to get started in making her own jewellery but, with such a demanding work and personal life, never seemed to find the time. When she arrived in Bristol, she found she had more spare time, and so decided to embark on jewellery making courses, and immediately became hooked.   Once established in jewellery making she discovered the art of making lampwork beads, and quickly found a local studio to create and display her work.  Suzy has now been lampworking for over 10 years and is sharing the art with others.
